     After graduating class valedictorian from Leechburg Area High School in 1999, Katie pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at New York University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003. Shortly thereafter, she pursued her juris doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law, attending an evening program, where she also graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2008. Katie is the daughter of Fred and Donna Foust and the third of four children. Currently, Katie resides in South Buffalo Township with her husband Joe and children, Emma and Cash.

     From 2008 to 2011, Katie practiced privately with the Lindsay Law Firm in Butler, PA. Upon leaving, Katie established the Charlton & Charlton Law Firm with her husband Joe. There, she acted as managing partner. Katie was honored by SuperLawyers magazine as a “Rising Star” in 2012, and concurrently 2015 through 2017. She was appointed to the position of Assistant District Attorney of Armstrong County in 2011 where she prosecuted hundreds of cases. During her campaign, she received the endorsement of all local law enforcement organizations and was elected Armstrong County’s first female District Attorney in 2017. Katie currently serves as a member of the Duquesne Law Alumni Association Board of Governors, and received the Woman of the Year Award from Duquesne University in 2018.

     In her free time, Katie is the advisor to the Freeport Area High School Mock Trial Team. She is a former member of the Board of Directors and Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, and present member of the South Buffalo Elementary PTO, Armstrong County Farm Bureau, Freeport Area College Club, and Board of Directors of Armstrong County Community Action Agency. Katie provides a yearly scholarship to a graduating Freeport High School student pursuing a legal career.
